Buon Viaggo

Jim and Kathryn are off to Italy in the early morning. We are expecting nothing short of detailed field reports on the wines (and food) of Tuscany. The Wren's Nest Cooperative will remain behind to press the 2008 Nelson Family Syrah when the time is right! We expect the press to happen sometime this week. Sugar levels have dropped by almost three degrees Brix per day - tonight's reading was 3.2.

Nelson Family Vineyard Harvest

We picked up a half ton of Syrah grapes from Phil and Gerry Nelson at the Nelson Family Vineyard yesterday morning. Jim and I drove up at around 9:30, picked up grapes and had them crushed and de-stemmed by 1:00. Gloriously warm fall day and the perfect day to play hooky from work.

Also, it was Jim's birthday yesterday. Happy Birthday Jim.
